Enjoy my second tape which is a lofi adventure that depicts a subaquatic world I had so much pleasure dive into last winter!
I composed this tape with only two machines from 2002, a Japanese synth from 1988 and a small device whose circuit I soldered myself to record my voice.
It was a challenge to compose with limited equipment, but I like to set constraints and see how creativity emerges (echoing this minimal spirit, for the cover, I only used a blue pencil).
The sound of the early 2000s inspires me a lot, nostalgic atmospheric electronics and dnb.
This tape carries within it a tribute to this era mixed with personal vaporwave and dub influences and way too many hours playing the video game Subnautica.
For hardware enthusiasts, here’s the material I used :
Korg’s Electribe mk2 drum machine
Korg’s Microkorg
Yamaha’s PSR-36
Claire Kelp’s DIY on-board computer simulator.
