It was some time ago when we first heard VR Crisis, an album Biomass released on legendary label & Options (salute!) together with Adrien (Mobile Suits). It’s an 6 hour behemoth, one of most ambitious and accomplished music projects to see light of day in our little corner of the Internet – dreampunk/vaporwave/vaporhell/tape heaven/twitter(x)-connected music nerds scene, however you prefer to call it today. Personally I’ve been following Biomass and liking his music since the ancient days when he produced under different alias, atmospheric and piercing “The Climber” being his first project I got to know.

Anyways. With each new outing Biomass grows as an artist, perfecting his craft of producing heart-piercing, masterful and noble sound, his beautiful sonic language to talk about emotions we all share. On “Life in a waiting room”, as I interpret it, Biomass tackles the topic of loosing control of our own lives. The cover we (finally) have to represent this idea takes it to the extreme, but I like to see this album as relating to each one of us, struggling to understand the world which seems to spew a new horror before our eyes every few months, rarely letting us to just feel at peace (if we’re lucky enough not to be directly affected); the general direction of the state of things seems to be worse each day. This lack of feeling of having any sense of empowerment makes us numb, depressed and detached from everything, causing the time we’ve got to leak through our hands, and we end up spending most of it waiting for some opportunity that never materializes, not realizing the very thing just passed us by at arm’s length.

I am more often than not wrong, so I’m not even trying to present the above as objective in any sensible way. I hope you – the listener – will find your own interpretation of this album, and whatever it is, it makes you realize someone feels the same as you do, and at the same time the connection itself is a piece of art.

Hope you enjoy pondering it – we’re proud to be a small part.
