First released 11 years ago, 9​.​0水面下Megathrust has often been referred to as “the Japanese News at 11”, as it’s an album that was created in response to a tragedy on a large scale – in this case, it’s about the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami in Japan that took the lives of nearly 20,000 people.

While News at 11 envisions a world in which 9/11 never happened, 9​.​0水面下Megathrust is an album that directly confronts the disaster and its aftermath while exploring themes of loss, memory, and recovery through the lens of one of the most devastating natural disasters in modern Japanese history. The whole package comes with a fresh vinyl master from Majestic 12, 4 bonus tracks created by 放射性Hi5, and an updated jacket and labels designed to respectfully balance the tragedy and ongoing recovery while focusing on the calm of Fukushima.
